So why did a girl working in Corporate America decide to take the wellness path in life?
I never really saw what I wanted for my life specifically. But I knew I wanted to do something that mattered in life. Something that really truly meant something, like really meant something. but it never really quite seemed like the “time” to take a chance. You know move away from that great paying job and that plan that seemed to be laid out for you for the rest of your life. But when GOD moves you and says jump you say “how high, GOD”?
There are a few things that really have come together for me over the last couple of years. Most specifically though would be when I started yoga & meditation. I thought hey you know this will help with my anxiety & depression and why not. I realized almost immediately though that yoga, meditation & wellness were going to be my focus in life. Now stay with me for a second because I know “wellness” is such a buzz word. But for me I really dug in and learned about true wellness. Wellness has so many facets and is broken into pillars. I am not sure a lot of people really see that it is not just one thing. Holistic health and wellness is sustained by eight pillars: physical, nutritional, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, financial, and environmental. My desire is that I can help bring a real light to this. Help people really see how to bring a true sense of wellness into their lives.
Something else that I am very passionate about is positive speech. As you have probably noticed on my site the theme is speaking about manifesting, being an extrovert or socializing etc. We as a society have gotten used to speaking negatively about ourselves or situations. Words have power and changing the conversation to speak positivity is crucial for us as living beings and those around us. We are what we think and that has to change! We need to start saying that we are social and not anti-social. We need to focus on being an extrovert not an introvert and be proud that we are. Let's say great things like "Love It's My Vibe".
I have taken so many paths when it comes to fitness over the years. But for myself true happiness along with peace and fulfillment came from meditation, yoga and learning how to be kind and give grace to myself. Gratitude, self-love, self-care & kindness have been things I believe are foundational to be a healthy human. There are also differences in what I believe self-love really is. I plan to blog about that, lol. It really hit home for me when I heard Tony Robbins make a comment in an interview. He said that self-love is not what you think. That it actually is loving others and being in service to others. You love yourself truly and get fulfillment when you serve others.
We have to remember that there is a balance with all things. When I heard Tony make this statement it was like an "ah-ha" moment because it makes so much sense. So many of us have been conditioned to have it backwards. So many people think that total 100% self-focus is the key to self-love. But I hope to help change that popular opinion. I want to help people learn that being selfless is the key to true self-love.
So here we are on this little journey of mine. A journey I have decided to take in hopes to create & leave a better life behind for my daughter. I can remember when I first started thinking about this venture of mine. I had this idea to make shirts with cute sayings because my daughter would steal mine and wear them, lol. I thought, well that would be cute to make something cute she can “steal’ from me and wear forever. Then the more thought I put into it I realized I could really do something with this. I could share gratitude, self-love, self-care & kindness on clothes. And in turn I would be sharing with others what I have learned about how to love themselves & those around them. Thus leaving the world better than I found it.
And so in a somewhat of a nutshell there you have it. A peak into the origin of Wellness By Heirloom. Sharing & teaching those around us and out in the world Wellness as best we can. It is really exciting watching all the goodness we create turn into the best kind of Heirloom anyone could ask for. Here is to making the world a better place!
